Taipei 101 Firework!

Spent New Year's Eve with my childhood friend and his college buddies. We watched the fireworks display on the street near his house. Lots of people on the street, traffic is horrible near Taipei 101, heard it takes 2 hours just to walk out of the area. The white tiger doll belongs to my friend's Gf, apparently she's been taking it with her everywhere for the past 5 years.

Wedding

Attended a wedding in my dad's place, American styled ceremony, pretty good food.

Carnegie's Taipei

Read about this bar online, majority of the crowd are in their 30's, but everyone has fun. Notice the handle bars on the bar top, they allow people to dance on the non-slip material covered bar.

Beef Noodle

Taiwan's specialty, beef noodle, the shop is right around the corner from my apartment, a small mom & pop shop.

Small Concert in Taipei's Shibuya

Invited by a friend from UH days to a small concert in 西門町(Ximending), Taipei's version of Shibuya. The place looks and feels just like Shibuya, and is crowded with young kids even on week day/nights. The concert was held in the old style building. The artist's name is 藍又時(Lan Yo Shi), a really powerful singer. It's my first concert ever, really glad I got to go.

Day trip to the South for Grandma's Bday

Took the MRT (subway) and transfered to the high speed rail for a day trip to Grandma's house in the South, a 4 hour trip by car only takes 1.5 hours on the new train. The girls on the train wear special designed uniforms and limited edition Coach pouches. The stations looks really cool from the outside, but they're all built in the middle of nowhere.

Arriving in Taiwan

Arrived in Taiwan on 12/19, a shot of the airport arrival lobby, starting to look Christmassy.

Special drink

Had a small get together BBQ before I left on the trip, the newly weds recently returned from their Japan trip gave each of the guys a special "Mokkori Power" drink. Had to ask what mokkori means, according to the dictionary it's "a bulge in the pocket or clothing". The character looks like Anpanman with a boner. Also received a bottle of Belvedere Vodka for Xmas.

Star Wars Vinyl Collectible

Bought the Iron Man Collector's edition DVD a while back, and it came with a $50 gift card for Sideshow Collectibles. Used the gift card on a Star Wars 8" vinyl figure, the TC-14, it's the silver humanoid robot from the Star Wars prequels, looks the same as the golden C3P0 in the later movies. It's my first 8" vinyl collectible, it's bigger than I expected. Now I can move on to the 12" Iron Man figures.
